The game of billiards is continuing to grow in popularity. According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association's January 2002 State of the Industry Report, there are over 37 million pool players in the US. Almost all of these players have a desire to improve their game. There are numerous training aids on the market to do just that. AcCueShotTM is a new and unique training device that will improve a player's game as described below.
Billiards is a game of skill and accuracy. In addition to understanding the basics of the game and the geometry of the shots, players must also develop the skill to shoot well. Correct aim is a critical component of a good shot. Developing the correct aim is a daunting task. Many factors can affect a shot and if the player's shot is unsuccessful, the player is often left wondering what went wrong. Did he miss his desired target point? Was his desired target point in error? Was there too much or too little English (spin) on the cue ball? Indeed, even if the player makes his shot, aim could still have been off slightly but not enough to cause a missed shot.
AcCueShotTM is a Billiards Training Device that provides instant feedback to the player as to the accuracy of his shot. The feedback enables the player to improve his skill level by providing an immediate indication as to where the cue ball struck with respect to the intended target point, thus allowing the player to make appropriate corrective actions on subsequent shots.
AcCueShotTM is a small electronic device that is placed on the far rail of a billiards table. On the front of the AcCueShotTM device is an illuminated target bar that the player aims at. On the face of the AcCueShotTM device are three indicators: left arrow, center bulls eye and a right arrow. The player stands at the opposite side of the billiards table and then aims and shoots the cue ball at the AcCueShotTM target bar. Utilizing its infrared optics and microprocessor, AcCueShotTM calculates where the cue ball hit the rail with respect to the target bar and illuminates the appropriate indicator; left arrow if left of target, right arrow if right of target and bulls eye if on target. In addition, AcCueShotTM has a built in speaker that will emit a unique sequence of tones for each condition (left, right and bulls eye hits).
